Wish includes being a guest of Raleigh Fire Chief and 2014 Grand Marshal John McGrath during 32nd Raleigh St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Wearin’ O’ Green Festival
Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina is scheduled to grant Connor’s wish to be a fire fighter on Saturday, March 15. In addition to taking a tour of the City of Raleigh Fire Station 1 and meeting the fire fighting team, the Wake County native will be a special guest of Raleigh Fire Chief John McGrath during the 32nd Raleigh St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Wearin’ O’ Green Festival. Chief McGrath will serve as the 2014 Grand Marshal for Raleigh’s largest parade, which kicks off at 10:00 AM on South Wilmington Street.
Diagnosed in May 2013 with Wilms Tumor, Connor completed chemotherapy at Duke University Medical Center in December. His love of playing with fire trucks, throughout an entire day at times, influenced his choice of a wish. Connor, who turns 3 in April, will also receive a fire fighting suit and will attend a post-parade lunch at Raleigh Fire Station 1 as part of the wish experience.
