Cancerous tumors in her eyes make life as a 3-year-old a little bit different for Amber.
One eye has been replaced with a prosthetic, and she needs to be monitored closely to make sure tumors in her other eye do not spread to her optic nerve. Chemotherapy and other therapies have been part of her ongoing treatment.
Amber acts and plays like any other preschooler. Her dad, Scott, jokes that she will probably make taking out her prosthetic eye a game when she gets to kindergarten, because she would often do this at home with her family. The discovery of new growth during a recent doctor appointment means her battle will continue.
Amber's wish was to go to Walt Disney World® Resort. The highlight for her and her sister, Ashley, was meeting Frozen princesses Anna and Elsa. Scott's voice began to tremble when thinking about his girls looking and smiling in the mirror at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (a place where little girls can go have their hair and make up done and be transformed into princesses). It was a moment of pure joy.
"Once everything happened with Amber's condition it was so difficult to get any time away," said Scott. "We don't have a lot of family bonding experiences so to just have a week to be able to be together and do some of the most fun things imagined created these memories."
