“Mustaches for Kids” Event Raises $17,500 for Make-A-Wish® Eastern North Carolina

Janis Netherland, Director of Philanthropy in Wilmington for Make-A-Wish® Eastern North Carolina, announced that Mustaches for Kids has donated $17,500 to the local wish granting organization. The donation is the result of the 2013 Mustaches for Kids fundraising campaign that culminated with the “Stache Bash” held at the Banks Channel Pub & Grille on December 6.

Zaxby’s to Host “Cause Card Week” Aug. 12-21

Beginning August 12th, 17 area Zaxby’s stores will host “Cause Card Week." Up to 30% of sales generated during the 10-day campaign will help grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Customers who dine at local participating Zaxby’s during the promotional period will have 10% of their bill donated. Each time a customer returns to Zaxby’s and makes a subsequent purchase between August 12 and August 21, the donation will increase by 10%, with a maximum of 30%.

Deacon Jones Auto Group in Smithfield announced that its recent sales event held during the months of April and May raised $16,480 to help grant wishes in eastern North Carolina. During the “Speakin’ Deacon 2000” event, each of the twelve Deacon Jones auto dealerships partnered with Make-A-Wish® Eastern North Carolina, making a donation for every vehicle sold.

2013 Walk for Wishes®

Make-A-Wish® Eastern North Carolina announced that it will host its 2013 Walk for Wishes® 5K in two locations this year. The first walk is scheduled in Wake County at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary on Sunday, September 8. The John Nesbitt Loop in Wrightsville Beach will be the site for the second walk on Sunday, September 22. These community events will raise funds to help grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Make-A-Wish® Eastern North Carolina with the help of longtime supporter, WWE®, is sending four kids to WrestleMania® 29 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday, April 7. Anjar, 18, and Robert, 10, both from Wake County join 13-year-old Justin from Craven County and 7-year-old Trey from New Hanover County. They are part of a group of 38 kids with life-threatening medical conditions from around the world who wished to attend sports entertainment’s biggest event.

Jewelers for Children Helps Grant Wish to Beaufort County Girl

Make-A-Wish® Eastern North Carolina announced that Jewelers for Children will help grant the wish of Ashley, a 20-year-old from Beaufort County. Ashley, who has Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), will enjoy her shopping wish experience at Crabtree Valley Mall on Saturday, March 16. A private “wish party” will be held at Bailey’s Fine Jewelry Crabtree Valley store beginning at 1 pm.
