Orangetheory Fitness studios in Chapel Hill and Morrisville are proud to announce their six-week Wellness for Wishes program in support of Make-A-Wish® Eastern North Carolina. The weight loss motivated challenge encourages members to improve their health and wellness while simultaneously raising money to help grant the wishes of North Carolinian children with life-threatening medical conditions. Members will ask friends and family to sponsor them in the program by pledging a donation for every pound that they lose, for every mile that they run or walk, or for every meter that they row in classes.
The Wellness for Wishes program kicks off June 8 and ends July 18. There is no fee to participate, and people can join the program at any point during the six weeks. Initial weigh-ins for the members who are aiming to lose pounds will take place June 1 through 8 and final weigh-ins will take place July 18. Members working toward mile or meter goals will record their accomplishments during each class.
“We are inspired by the work of Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina and are proud to support the organization,” said Orangetheory Fitness local franchise owner Kristie Shifflette. “Our members are honored to help contribute to the granting of wishes for these special children in North Carolina! The bonus is pushing yourself to be healthier and more fit throughout the process.”
Sponsors can choose to donate any amount based on the member’s achievements over the course of the program, such as a penny for every meter rowed or $5 for every pound lost. A check presentation to Make-A-Wish Eastern NC will be held at the Morrisville studio, located less than five miles from the Eastern North Carolina chapter’s offices, in August. Awards will be presented to the male and female, who each lost the most weight, ran or walked the most miles, and rowed the furthest.
