Make-A-Wish® Eastern North Carolina announced that W.I.S.H. – Women Inspiring Strength & Hope 2014 raised more than $100,000 during its inaugural campaign. A celebration luncheon was held on Friday, March 28 at The Umstead Hotel and Spa to honor the collective achievements of 12 outstanding women who used their talents, compassion, personal connections and leadership qualities to create awareness and raise funds to grant wishes to local children with life-threatening medical conditions. Joanne Pike, who personally raised close to $20,000, was recognized as 2014 W.I.S.H. Champion of the Year.

Champions has been truly amazing,” said Kristen Johnson, Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina President & CEO. “Their commitment and incredible contributions help us as we enter our busiest wish granting season. We are grateful for their support in establishing a benchmark as we continue to build the program in 2015.”

launched with the W.I.S.H. Champion Launch & Cocktail Social the evening of January 30. Each of the 2014 W.I.S.H. Champions accepted the challenge to raise funds to grant one child’s wish in our community, a minimum of $7,500, during the two-month campaign. The 2014 W.I.S.H. Champion of the Year was determined by total funds raised to support wishes and announced during the celebration luncheon.
