The Magellan Charter School in Raleigh recently presented Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina with a $3,642.21 donation to help grant wishes to local children with life-threatening medical conditions. The donation marked the school’s single largest fundraising total during its 10th anniversary supporting Make-A-Wish. Each year, the 5th grade students host events like bake sales, lemonade stands and yard sales that have contributed more than $20,000 since 2004.
“Over the ten years that Magellan has been involved with Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina, I have seen how incredibly powerful the stories of children who struggle with an illness impacts our students,” said Sharon Sakash, 5th grade teacher The Magellan Charter School. “Our students desire to do all they can to try and replace a day of not feeling well with smiles and memories really motivates them. Make-A-Wish helps them realize they can make a difference in someone’s life.”
Kids For Wish Kids®
is a program that engages kids of all ages, students, youth groups, clubs and organizations in the Make-A-Wish mission. Kids can create ideas for fundraisers or use an example we provide and then organize and manage from start to finish. Funds are applied to help grant the wishes of qualifying children in our service area.
